Trail Puy Mary
The Espace Trail Puy Mary – Volcan du Cantal is 24 itineraries drawn around 8 starting sites to discover the Grand Site de France Puy Mary – Volcan du Cantal. A concentrate of authenticity and landscapes as varied as they are magnificent, between mountain pastures, summits, ridgelines, and typical hamlets.
The hiking trails as well as the slopes on offer, in the heart of the largest volcano in Europe, are well known and are particularly suitable for trail walking. The permanent area is built around a large loop of 80 km to be completed in stages. Each valley, located downstream from Le Puy Mary, has loops with varying levels and difficulties. Whether you are a beginner or a high-level practitioner, there is something for everyone. The 8 entry points allow you to vary the pleasures and confront different environments. For example, you can train on a short, flat loop at Lac des Graves, try to beat the record for the ascent of Puy Mary, or challenge the vertical kilometer of Le Piquet at Mandailles-Saint-Julien.
The Puy Mary trail area is labeled Uni’vert trail by the French Athletics Federation and sponsored by Philippe Propage, the trainer of the French trail team.
